CROSS BODY/TRIANGLE TO LEGLOCK ATTACK:
Here is the new format for the email
tips...based upon responses to my email quiz.
In this section you will try to explain the
cross body/triangle to leg lock.
The technique is as follows:
-
When
some one has cross body on you if they allow their far arm to slip
low, or if they put it between your legs you can hit the cross body
triangle lock.
-
My
opponent has me in cross body. I push him down into the
triangle. (There are a lot of set ups for this) (picture 1)
-
I
secure the triangle and grab his arm pulling it across his body for
the tap. This is pretty basic and is taught in most bjj/submission
schools. (picture 2)
-
This
is a "loose triangle" and a lot of people can either power
out or slip out. In fact when we train you are looked on kinda
funny if you tap to this. So many instructors advise to go for the Kimura
lock (picture 3)
-
I
like hitting the foot lock. (picture 4) Now specifically I go
for the foot lock the moment the I slap the triangle on... Your
opponent gets the triangle put on him and does not think about the
leg attack.
-
After
putting the foot lock on I also keep the triangle on wrenching it
tight.
-
Now
I will tell you these are horrible pictures and do not show the
beauty of hitting this move. When you pop it on correct your
opponent has no freedom of movement and you can hit either the
triangle/the kimura or the foot lock. Of if you are fancy you
can hit them all at one time but that is damn over kill.
The pictures also don't really show the intricacy of the foot
position or how strong the control you have once you gain correct
foot position. I had a training class on this move the other
day and the guys liked it so much that we worked on the many
different sets ups and the different attacks you could
get.
I ended up filming a 45 minute instructional video on this move
and its set ups. Also what we filmed which was great was
the escape. If you have every tried to escape the
cross/body triangle it just sucks. You rip your ears off. (get
big cauliflower ears..yuck) and it is slow. With the special
escape (people who answered my quiz received a text version of the
escape) you turn this dangerous position into a submission for your
self....best of all if you miss the submission on the escape you end
up mounted on your opponent. I always love a move that if I
mess it up I will end up mounting the opponent. (that's what I call
a "fun" move).
Have
fun trying this move and its variations. Like I said there are so
many set ups and little details to making this move really
powerful. If you would like to order this technique training
video ($20.00) and we will get it out to you click
here to order...(If you are in the technique of the month club you
are getting it already plus some other real practical stuff...so don't
order this) Good
luck, I hope you like the new email tips format. We will see if I
can keep it going and make it better. As always: Train
Hard, Don't Quit, A.J.
