Well
here our some new technique pictures for leg attacks from an attacker
punching from on top.
In
this series I am on my back (a shitty position on the street..oh
well) I have been knocked down, fell down, slipped or my opponent
has stood up from the guard or scrambled up. [ If this looks familiar
it is the ending of the Din Thomas/B.J. Penn fight in the
UFC]
My
opponent is standing over me and starts to rain down blows. I
cannot allow big full momentum punches to connect so I have to
move. First tip:
Always
dive towards the punch not away. As he starts the punch I drop my
leg to behind his knee and use my hips to pull me toward the
punch. It is easier to slip a punch going towards it than trying
to escape away. In
picture 3 you see how I use his momentum from his punch and my leg
action to move to his side. I then grab his leg as low as I can
get it. I use my other leg to kick him in the ribs pushing him
down. When he hits the deck I then apply a leglock or heel hook
to finish. Now
this is an abbreviated example as there are a lot of details you can't
see. Also, I never ever want to be in this position on the
street. This is to be used only when you are getting your ass
kicked and you are on the bottom in the street. Also, in the
street I probably would not secure a leglock or heel hook at that is
normally when his friends decide to kick your face in. There is a
nifty ankle break...yes ankle break on the way down but we will leave
that for the future....
