Review
of tape:
BJJ
Leglock attacks Volume 1: In this volume one of this video
series you will be learning from Eduardo Delima. Eduardo is the current Pan Am
champion and has on many major tournaments including the Brazilian
open. He is the former head instructor of the Carlos Gracie
Jiujitsu
school in Barra, Brazil. Eduardo currently runs a Carlos Gracie
Jiujitsu school in Clearwater, Florida. He talks on using leg locks and
leg attacks in both tournament and no-rules competitions. In
reviewing the tape I felt that these were the most important details
that were thought by Eduardo:
-
He
shows proper use of hand position and use of knee in leg lock
defenses
-
Eduardo
shows minute details on how to correctly set up what we consider
"normal" leg locks. These details are what can be
the difference between getting the tap and missing the move and
falling on your ass.
-
Use
of the gi when securing the leg locks. A necessity in bjj
competitions.
-
How
to maintain good position when trying your leg locks.
-
Making
your leg locks a normal part of your BJJ offense.
-
A
very interesting variation when the opponent tries to rise up and
escape. In that situation Eduardo rolls to a Brazilian version
of the Boston crab used by catch wrestlers.
This series is very different than used by many Submission
wrestlers it shows the many details necessary to successfully using leg locks.
